How do I get an entry level fixed income analyst position from here?
Hi guys right now I'm working as a financial advisor in one of the wall st firms for about 6 months. Passed my Series 7 and series 66 exms. I have a degree in economics but not from a target school. Ive registered for the cfa and FRM exams and will take them soon.
I'm looking to break away from the sales position which I took mainly to get some experience but I really would like to work with fixed income. After working at my firm and being exposed to many different things, I really find fixed income very interesting.
So how do I transition from where I am now to being a fixed income credit analyst, what jobs do I need to aim for to build up to that.
You might want to look into the credit rating agencies for corporate credit analyst positions. Pay ins't great but hours are good and you are well trained. Most guys end up leaving after a few years to go work on the buy side for credit funds or to better paid sell side banks. The main 3 (S&P, Moody's and Fitch) will usually sponsor youthrough the CFA exams as well which is a plus.
Thanks thats what I was looking for. Are there other comapnies that have entry level fixed income analysts positions.
I don't really care if it's credit focused or not, or even corporate focused, in fact I prefer muni's. I'm looking for a position that will let me just get my foot in the door in the fixed income space.
