How do I navigate this?

Dealing with a pretty bad situation at work where my associate is constantly complaining about me and basically put all the blame on me for a couple of large projects, we had for errors that could have been avoided. I do not have much experience, nor do I have much in the way of references, so I am not sure what to do or how to navigate getting another job?

I think there are a few different ways to approach this depending on your situation. Fwiw I just lateraled because I had a terrible associate but he wasn’t throwing me under the bus, he just sucked.

1. Do you have any friends in the industry? Ask them if they know anyone who is looking. Even if they don’t, someone might reach out to them asking for leads eventually and they can connect you.

2. Cold apply online. Everyone says this is a dead end but I had a lot of success going this route. You need to make sure your resume is tight. In your interviews you need to spin it as the team dynamic doesn’t offer an ideal learning environment for you. You gotta finesse what you say because you gotta make sure you seem competent and don’t have issues with authority. If anyone else on your team has left recently, ask them how they spun it.

3. Reach out to your mentors and ask them for advice.

In my experience it’s just easier to leave than hope the situation gets better. I really hope everything works out for you. I think the VPs + know that all of the blame can’t be out on the analyst because the analyst and associates are a team and the analysts work is a reflection of the associate.

Thanks for your advice. Really appreciate it. How long was your overall lateral process?

The thing that really put me over the edge was that he did not submit work I sent him to our seniors by the deadline because he was "making sure the model" was correct and thought something was off and spent an additional two days before he sent it to them and said that I did have it ready by the deadline.
