Considering an offer at BlackRock in their Alt. Investments group in one of their direct PE funds. I can't even tell if BlackRock is prestigious.

How do you not know about a company you allegedly have an offer at?
I know absolutely nothing but I've always got the vibe that BlackRock is the asset management equivalent of a Wells Fargo, HSBC, BNP Paribas in banking. Not excellent. Not bad. Pay is decent but not top. Absolute behemoths in their industries in terms of size.
Obviously BlackRock started out from Blackstone but who knows if that even matter anymore.
Huge in Passives, not that big in everything else. Prestige from outside of finance is a couple of magnitudes higher than in the community.
