How to follow up email after diversity event?

I'm a freshman and I went to a BB diversity event and got business cards and wrote down names of all the employees who spoke at the panels. I'll be completely honest and say that I don't really know shit about financial modeling. I've taken accounting and macro and micro econ but I am completely foreign to LBO, DCF, etc. I know for a fact that the banks will begin taking my resume for their sophomore summer analyst openings. We get to choose up to 3 industries. I know for the time being I need to work on my technicals and reach out to people I was in contact with. Honestly, I don't really care if the sophomore SA is in a decent MO or BO role like finance, risk, etc. since it would be better than a PWM internship. Do people in IB and ER expect me to know everything there is about the industry. This is what I was thinking for a template.

Subject line: _____ event follow-up

HI ____,

My name is ___ and I currently attend ___ university. I attended the ____ event at your firm and was fortunate enough to receive your business card. I was wondering if we could talk over the phone in the next couple of days/weeks? I have chosen your division as one my 3 choices and would like to know more about how you got into the industry.

Thanks, name email phone number

"Yo ma N...."

maybe not

The format of the email looks just fine. However, you might want to change up the third sentence a bit....maybe something like this will work:

"If you have any availability over the next couple weeks, I would like the opportunity to speak with you on the phone." ....no question mark

Also, you definitely should add something specific as to why the particular group interests you. But, you're on the right track.
