In my process of networking, I somehow managed to secure multiple phone calls with small IB boutiques and even a PE shop. Now each of them said they are, quote "thinking about brining an intern on, and would like to speak with me". Now I don't have any real finance background and am not an overly outstanding candidate, I just relentlessly networked my way in.
My question is, how do I really sell myself over the phone to them and convince them I can be of an asset to their company? Anybody who has been in my position before that has landed an interview and position through a phone call? Would appreciate any and all insight on this.

Practice telling your "story" - where you come from, what you study, why you're interested in finance, etc. - in 2 minutes. Make it engaging and conversational. Have intelligent questions prepared and get to know them a little.
Look up as much about the firm/fund as possible. Showing a genuine interest in what they do never hurts.
Know what the groups and people actually do. And as above said, know your story PERFECTLY. You will need to practice speaking it, writing it, taking a break and remembering where you stopped off so you can continue. (You should go through a phase where you sound like a robot, but once you really know your story - it should flow like a conversation)
