I don't think I can afford to have an internship. What are my options?
I've sent in several applications for an internship with several investment banks (buldge bracket, middle market and boutique) across several divisions. None of these job ads mentioned whether I will be paid or get my living costs subsidized.
Aside from 2 boutiques in my area, most of these internships are in New York City or a financial center that is far away.
The money I have from loans, scholarships and my job is just enough to pay for college so I can't afford to spend $1500-$3000 a month to live in a big city.
Now if I do get a paid internship from any of these firms, will my wage be enough to pay for basic things (small apartment, public transportation, utilities, food, etc.)
If I don't get a paid internship, what options do I have? I know I still got 2 banks in my backyard but I really would like to expand my options. Perhaps you guys could give me a rough estimate on how much I would need to save to live in NYC, Atlanta, Houston or Chicago for 10 weeks.

It was about $3k upfront for my SA housing in NYU dorms, and a few hundred for basic lunches/travel prior to my first paycheck.
Get the SA offer and hustle for a few grand in order to pay summer housing. Liquidate a few of your belongings if need be. The amount you earn over the summer will more than cover any debt you incure in the process of relocating even if you don't receive a FT offer.
Are the NYU dorms exclusive to NYU students?
