I HATE Hirevues

I genuinely despise hirevues. The giant timer? Hate it. Speaking to a camera with no one else on the other side? Hate it. Being docked points for technical errors made by hirevue? Hate it. Not being moved foward after networking into oblivion to get rejected by an AI grading system? Hate it. Hirevues take the humanity out of interviews. Just knowing that there is a soulless camera analytically grading you while you speak, rather than a human, completely changes the mental game and preparation. I’ve nailed many hirevues, but with each one I do well on, there’s absolutely one or two I did awful on. I understand why they have them for efficiency & cost purposes, but my God I feel like they weed out people that genuinely could be great fits for the job solely because they had a couple stutters/ talk too fast/whatever else people struggle with that wouldn’t happen if it was a “real” interview. I praise companies that don’t use Hirevue and instead have first rounds being phone screens/zoom calls, you’re real ones. From a college kid who’s done 50+ hirevues in the past year.
