IBD in Hong Kong for MSF student

Hey everyone,

First post on the forum, looking for general advice on breaking into IBD in Hong Kong. I'm currently getting my MSF from University of Rochester- Simon Business School. Mainly I'm looking for find out how hard it is to break in as a foreigner to get a SA position and what the process is like. Also, I don't speak Mandarin, which looks like it could be problematic from what I've read on the forum. Any guidance on these topics?

People in HK care a lot about educational background, and there are a ton of grads from Ivy league, Oxbridge, not to mention top Asian universities (Toidai, NUS, Seoul, Tsinghua, Sydney etc) and HK universities.

It's also getting harder to get a Visa to work here. I don't have first hand experience but I have heard of those without Right of Abode not being able to work here due to this reason.

the harsh reality is that you have almost zero chance. i would not recommend you to put faith in getting IBD in HK. you are competing with undergrads from top US and Asia schools. and also with Masters from M7 schools. so you really have no chance. netowrking does not work in Asia unless you are from rich or powerful family. no offense, your undergrad and graduate school are not good enough to pass HR. and you dont know the language either. that is almost an instant kill to your app. look for another path.
