Ideal level of German for applicant?

My German is currently at a B2 level (no certificates/qualifications but I did take a B2 course with the Goethe Institut in 2020). Will this be sufficient enough to apply for German internships/jobs? Or should I try to reach C1 standards?

I will edit to solely internships, not 'internship/jobs.' I'm not interested in getting a full time position in Germany but I'd like to broaden my horizons by doing an internship in Germany if possible. Or should I just abandon this thought?

Thank you for the clarification. There is one particular internship I am looking at and it says the following:

'Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively: both verbally and in writing'

Would B2 be sufficient?

Whether B2 would be sufficient or not... it's hard to say. I would say, apply for the position, if you're able to go through the whole interview process then it definitely means that your German is good enough to communicate such ideas effectively.

Don't be discouraged by the other replies! I'm Spanish and currently doing M&A in France, but when I first moved to France I had a B2 level ;)

I honestly don't see why a company would hire someone with broken German over a domestic applicant unless you're overqualified but it's worth a try I guess. Just send out some applications and see if you hear back.
