Interesting situation..Looking for Guidance!

One of the goals I set out for myself when I returned to school was to land some finance related internship in Japan. Why Japan? To simply put it, I am fascinated with the culture and customs. I have succeeded in procuring the internship, however, I am a bit conflicted.

I was recently accepted as a transfer to a target school for IB. The issue is that since I am a transfer and will possibly be in Japan this summer (if I go through with the internship), I feel that I'll be missing out on the opportunity to meet with on-campus recruiters.

I was hoping that someone could shed some more light on this process. Feel free to ask any questions to help better clarify the situation.

I truly appreciate it.

Ok, if they took you for the internship then it must mean you have the language requirement for FT. If you miss the recruitment window you may be at a disadvantage back home but the experience in Japan will open you up to recruitment there and Japan strikes me as one of those markets where you NEED previous experience to get FT (but you probably know this more than me).

If you're interning during the summer, you won't miss any on-campus recruiters since they all visit during the school year, primarily during the spring now with the hyper-accelerated recruitment.

To infinity... and beyond!

On the Japan front - if this is one of the "pay us and we'll get you an internship" type of things, I would not recommend it. Sure, you'll have a great time in Japan, but in no way will this help you land any sort of full-time rol. You're at a target school, so you have that going for you, but most BB related roles are unfortunately reserved for the Waseda/U of Tokyo and native speaking American school/British School students of the world.

Your best bet would be to land a role in the states, excel, and transfer offices - what myself and a number of friends have done. But who knows, you might be a bit luckier than I and land a role over there. Ganbatte!
