Internship w/ ROTC?
Hey WSO,
I am a rising junior at an ivy. Would like to get an ibanking internship next summer. The issue is that I am in ROTC and am planning to commission after graduation. Thus I would not be looking for a full time job afterwards; I just want the internship for the experience and a feel for something I might be interested in after I get out of the military. Do firms expect you to seek employment with them afterwards? Should I take ROTC off my resume so they don't know I won't be looking for a job after college? I'm brand new to the ibanking world, so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
I have A LOT of friends who are in ROTC, both at my Uni and across the country (namely Senior ROTC Colleges) - I was even on the cusp of accepting admission into a CoC program at a pretty well known school, and from what I know the summer before your Senior year (when you'd be working at this internship) is usually pretty filled up with ROTC stuff, especially if you plan on commissioning.
Honestly I don't think you'd have the time. I have friends in ROTC who run into issues with their part-time jobs back home because they have FTXs to do over the summer and their rising sophomores/juniors.
I would take it off. BBs like to hire their interns FT.
