Investment Banking Spring Weeks Questions Advice

We all know receiving investment banking offers for spring weeks/insight days is pertinently a numbers game which is mainly based on the earliest time a candidate is able to submit a well rounded application.

For those who have been through the spring week application process, during the interview stage for a majority of banks is it more beneficial for a candidate to focus on competency/motivational questions or technical questions. Any other overall tips would be appreciated!

I was never asked a technical question for spring recruiting. Even for summers lol. Personally, I'd just apply the day things open, with the exception of evercore, I got interviews everywhere I applied on the day as someone who had no finance work ex.

Springs are insight events and marketed as such, the kids that know a lot of technicals and try reflect that come across as weird and unlikable. Focus on why you stand out + STAR technique + why banking/why this firm answer.

Can second all of the above. I think Evercore only asked about DCF when I was applying.

Looking into a big deal is helpful, ideally one which lots of banks have worked on e.g. Morissons / CDR (esp. with what's happened with the financing). Good way to talk about industry trends and shows you understand what a bank does.

Would highly recommend the Mergers & Inquisitions website for prep.
