That's literally all it is. Arts and crafts, Excel repetition, and testing your ability to be spoken down to and abused. 

Investment Banking is especially horrible because it takes otherwise intelligent, high-achieving students and drains them of their spirit and creativity. We've probably lost out on a lot of innovation because promising people have gone into Finance.

Sounds like someone couldn’t get into finance

Yeah I mean I’ve got >$100bn in deal volume from BB M&A, a couple years of PE, and still work a strategic function at a BB, but if it makes you feel better to believe people aren’t capable of thinking critically about their chosen vocation unless they failed to achieve it, go for it.
