Is it too late for me regarding financial summer internships?

I study a joint economics degree at LSE and I’m going into my second year. I’d like to secure any sort of experience/internships in the financial sector next summer (not IB), but I have a preference for actuarial experience.

While I have volunteering experience and I am involved greatly in LSE societies, none of it is financial related. I also don’t have any previous financial work experience (no first year internships, spring weeks etc.).

Therefore I am wondering that I may be disadvantaged or locked out altogether when it comes to this year’s application cycle for summer internships.

I did attend an insight day recently and I am currently completing a handful of relevant job simulations. But I feel like I’ve missed out on various events in first year/this summer that may have given me some help on how to complete assessment centres, fill out a good CV etc. Would it be worth attending any now or is it too late?

What are these employers looking in the application process, and will my lack of financial-related work experience or volunteering disadvantage me?
