Job Advice - 2010 Accounting graduate
Hi -
I'm a May 2010 Accounting graduate currently temping at Hertz headquarters doing pricing analysis. I took this position because I am interested in finance and the exposure of a fortune 500 company. I was offered a position doing accounting for an insurance company (1.9b market cap). I am currently studying for the CFA which my current position allows me more time to devote toward.
Which of these two positions would you suggest I do if I am interested in finance? Would accounting for an insurance company be viewed favorably or would it just pidgeon hole me further?
Insurance is definitely more finance related, but accounting is still accounting.
Obviously, but that wasn't the question being asked.
stay at your current pos and continue looking

Bingo.
okay guys thank you for the advice.
Guys, he's doing pricing analysis. That's MARKETING. Take the job at the insurance company, accounting for an insurance co. is a good step, though you do risk pigeonholing yourself (but let's face it, at least you'd be moving in the right direction; I'm not chomping at the bit to hire Hertz pricing analysts, no offense meant whatsoever, just saying).
