JOB ADVICE - Finance job in US
Hello friends,
I am looking for a finance job in USA.I have completed MBA in Finance from Sydney Australia. I have a bachelors degree in Engineering (Electronics and Communication) from India.I am a Permanent Resident of United States of America.
Now,after applying for more than 200 companies for the past 6 months still i am unable to get a finance job.I don have any related work experience.So please suggest some way to get a finance job.Everything seems so far away.

did you get any constructive feedback out of your 200 (!!!!) applications? someone had to tell you why they did not accept you?
btw degrees are just there to open the door, interviews, ACs, etc is up to you.

Did you actually, call me crazy here, but think about what the fuck you were doing when you were applying to 200+ companies? In other words, applying to MS, JPM, GS and C 200 times does not constitute what I would call, intelligence. Apply to some lower rung type places and work on your Engrish.
claas 200+ is just an approximation. I am not able to clear all the stages just because i do not have finance related work experience. I do not even clear minimum eligibility criteria of experience.I think there is no scope.I am looking for just one opportunity . Luck isnt with me anymore.. :(

what - over qualification? seriously, if you applied to 200+ firms and no one invites you - there is something wrong with you buddy.

Your problem is both your degrees are from outside the U.S. A friend of mine obtained a back office job with a bachelor's from India and now he's b-school trying to transition to front office. Do you have the cash flow to go to school in the States ?
Thanks SAC...may be this is the reason....but opting for a b-school will be my last option.Right now i don wana study anymore... i have narrowed my focus to be in the finance field.. I am worried about getting a good job..4years of BS and 2 years MBA still not getting i am highly disappointed.
Why not start preparing for the CFA ? Even putting that on your resume might help. Maybe a part-time Finance certificate or whatever its called from a place like NYU ?

Kartik, I'll throw you a bone. First of all, understand that finance is a very relationship heavy, client-oriented job. It's also very competitive. You need to a) build a very strong network to help pull you into the field, and/or b) have some fairly big name qualifications (top 10 MBA, etc). This isn't like engineering where you can get in merely on the merits of knowledge, because frankly this is an industry where a 6th grader could excel if they could just break in. The barriers to entry are artificially high so to speak.
If you're looking for a BO/MO role, I'd network with other people from your home country (India), reach out to them in any way you can or to personal relationships or alumni from your schools, and ask for advice on how to position yourself. Cheers
