Job Market in Three Years

I plan to pursue my MBA degree in a top school this fall and a career in strategy consulting upon graduation. I have heard that the economy is slowing down and a possible recession might hit in the next two years. I was still in middle school in 2008. Not sure if a recession will have a big impact on my job prospects upon graduation, especially the consulting job market?

Any advice will be much appreciated!

I don't think anyone has a crystal ball big enough to give you an answer so definitive that it makes your sure, and if someone makes you sure I would think twice.

I think it would make more sense to just to get the degree done as early as you can ( assuming you have some experience) to build up your knowledge and skill set.

I don’t think consulting’s revenues impacted as greatly as finance related or other industries. I remember going through recruiting and some of the strategy consulting firm showing the revenue through the recession and they didn’t decline at all. It remained flat. I would imagine your project type would change to turnaround/cost related project during the recession. Hiring maybe different...
