Job vs Grad school

Hi, my name is Kevin. I've been looking for some answers for my career path, and hope many brilliant minds on WSO can give me some directions.

I'm 24 yr old, been working for 1 yr now. Just left a proprietary trading firm (Spent only 3 months there..I didn't do well there, so u can say I was fired.)

I'm thinking to join membership and start trading at home as a prop trader myself. HOWEVER, since I plan to attend grad school in fall 2013, I'm very conflicted.

Here are my concerns:

  1. Does experience as a prop trader serve me as a resume booster? Or like some said, prop trader experience is almost certainly view as unemployed.

  2. My goal to attend grad school is to crack into institutional trading desks or higher profile prop trading firms. With that in mind, what program do u think serves best? Does prop trader experience help getting into the programs u recommend?

THX a lot for ur genuine time. I'm looking for honest opinions.

Btw, I do NOT live in U.S. I live in Taiwan, hence, trading jobs here are a lot more scarce comparing to the U.S.
