lateral networking (associate level)

I have been with my current company in a strategy/corp dev role for a less than a year but I am ready to move on and get into banking. Have short stints at other companies doing similar role and I realized banking is the right fit for me.

Since I do not have banking experience but do have relevant experience gained from top consulting firms, how would I go about minimizing potential concerns that people may have for not having a direct experience? Is there a specific bank that I should be targeting given my profile?

1) Do you have an MBA from a top 10 school? If not, did you go to a good school for undergrad? 2) Did your consulting roles focus around financial services/due diligence? 3) When you say "top consulting" do you mean MBB?

If you answer no to 2 of the 3 above questions, I would recommend targeting boutique/lower MM firms, especially if they have a focus similar to what industries you have covered.

If you did go to a top MBA program, have worked at MBB, and have completed PE due diligence projects, then perhaps you would be able to use your school network to get interviews at BBs/EBs.

Basically, we need to know more details to give you a better idea of how you would fare / how to position yourself.

Good luck.
