Lateral offer - early associate offer
Am currently an analyst with almost 2 years of experience. Recently went through lateral recruiting and received an associate offer that had slightly higher (but not significantly) pay.
Given that my experience is still relatively limited, I’m not sure that I’m ready for an associate role. Would it be a good idea to take the associate offer even if there may be some potential risks of performance gaps or would it be more prudent to decline that offer (don’t want to get fired in a short timeframe for underperforming).
Thanks.
Make the switch. Expectations are pretty low for junior associates, especially after the advent of 2 year A2A promotions. Most analysts can’t even do simple modeling and are getting promoted at larger banks
Why would the pay only be slightly higher? An2 street salary is like what $125k? Meanwhile street for As1 is $175k? I wouldn't make the switch if you don't get a big bump. You might as well stay on at your current bank and lateral once you hit associate (so you avoid having to do an additional year as an analyst).
