Lateral Opportunities - Proposition

I am an analyst at a top tier BB in NYC. I have noticed that the hiring process at most BBs is not as rigid and streamlined as people on this site say. Yes, the 1st year analyst/associate classes are mostly filled through on campus recruiting and internships, however there is a lot of hiring that takes place as needs arise outside of formal channels (e.g. In February the ECM team in Dubai suddenly needs another analyst because someone quit, deal flow picked up, etc.).

Almost all firms post this sort of opportunity on internal job boards in order to promote internal mobility and use their bankers' personal networks to fill the position before launching the search more publicly. I would imagine that similar opportunities arise at top consulting firms.

If there are any banking analysts or associate consultants from top firms who are interested in exploring other opportunities, as I am, please PM me. I would propose that we link up and exchange information on opportunities at our respective firms.
