Lateraling between banks
Hi everyone. I’m a first year analyst in an average to weak coverage bulge bracket group. I’m considering switching to a considerably better group at a different bank after my first year. Like a lot of people here my goal is to work in PE at hopefully a good firm. A few questions — really appreciate the help!
1) Would I still be able to recruit for summer 2022 from another bank or would I have to stay another year?
2) I know it’s close to impossible to judge without specifics, but I’d appreciate any advice on how worth it this move would be. On the one hand analysts from my team don’t typically go onto name brand firms, but on the other I think I’m performing relatively well and I’m also on a few deals right now where I’d probably have to leave before they close. I also can’t tell how much “bad blood” I’d create by leaving....
