Lateraling to investment banking
Hi,
I am starting full time in a trading position at a BB in 2 weeks. I screwed up full-time recruiting last year (no idea about the timeline), but still aiming to work myself into investment banking. Is it ok to reach out to banks as soon as I start work, or is that frowned upon?
Thanks.
I'd give it some time, sink you teeth into current role and excel at it. If you do well and spend maybe a year or so in the role, you can leave or move internally. I think anything under two years, you will be asked "why want to leave so fast" so just have that answer ready for interviews. Anything less than 1 year, you might not even get many callbacks since it does not look great on applications
