Leave incomplete masters degree off CV

So I’m in my third year of FT work now and I’m applying for IB analyst positions since I don’t have enough deals experience to go for associate role and I’m willing to start from the bottom and learn.

I went to a semi target for undergrad and a target for masters. It was a one year masters and unfortunately I hated it. It was more way abstract and theory-based than the degree description made it to be. I didn’t submit my dissertation cos I just couldn’t find a topic that I feel enthusiastic about which will also fit into the programme. Instead of a masters of science degree I got a postgraduate diploma. I left it off my CV cos I reckon it wasn’t relevant to my application cos the masters was in politics (half political modules and half political economy ones). And in the application forms, it normally doesn’t include the option postgraduate diploma so I wasn’t able to add it.

Should I be concerned? I have read horror story about offers being rescinded because someone didn’t include every experience on their CV (tho the concensus was HR fucked up). I’ve done quite a few interviews now and no one has brought up the gap on my CV yet. Should I submit an updated CV with the postgrad diploma in?

Hey man, I think my experience is sort of relevant. Little background, I went to study an MSc at a highly ranked Uni in the UK (plenty of recruiting opportunities for UGs) unfortunately I failed two courses and only graduated with a Post-graduate diploma.

If you look up the role a PG Dip its mostly seen as a professional degree or to prop you up for master's program if your UG is in a different field.

In terms of job search, I didn't have any work exp previous to that degree but I still managed to land an internship and get interview calls from most places I do apply. Thing is i'm not working in the UK.

I don't think having PG Dip is bad and could probably help in the future. I think you should add it and prepare some kind of story.

No, i'm in Europe. It's your choice but if they ask about the gap just tell them what you did, big deal. I think it could also help during informal interviews.
