Leaving Firm after 6 Months as Lateral?
2nd-year analyst that lateraled from Capital Markets to Coverage. The team I joined is brutal. Very sweaty, tough culture, and the deal flow is ok at best. I'm on track to be promoted to Associate in effective July 1st.
I want to pivot outside the industry (think FP&A, Corp Dev, Strategy Roles). How bad would it look if I left the new firm after 6 months? I would have ~2 years of experience and would have been at my first job for 1.5 years.
it always look bad if u cant handle even 1 yr
Yeah, that's what I figured. Didn't know if it would look any better since I would be promoted before leaving (i.e. the firm supports me, and I left on my own).
Let this be a lesson to always call former employees
In same shoes, don’t think its as bad if you can justify upward mobility.
