Leaving Front office to go into Accounting

Hi all,

I hope you are well. I am in a bit of a predicament, I currently work in a MM bank and I am sick of working in banking, as such, I am actually looking to go into accounting.

I would like to go into Fund/Management Accounting as I am actually bored of working on pitches, working all night and not really living the life I thought I would. I would like to go into a job where I can use my brain for some actual thinking about real problems rather than working in a process driven role.

I have limited actual experience in preparing account but I did read Accounting at university and I am a qualified accountant.

Has anyone made the reverse move from FO to MO?

why accounting? plenty of other MO-type roles that provide better balance. Credit risk? or have you considered commercial banking?

I would like to be a management accountant or credit analyst.

I have applied for over 70 roles recently (multiple applications at the same firm included) but I don't have the experience to work in real estate or the proper FP&A experience. I am currently looking to move into a job which has more work life balance!

My advice to the young guys is to work in an area that is constantly in demand (think real estate, compliance).

Thanks for the comments though!

I'm not following...you said you wanted to move into accounting, then you mentioned credit, FP&A, and real estate. so what is it you want to do?
