Linkedin Job Seeker Plus
Is Linkedin job seeker plus really worth the extra 50 bucks/month? does it really help with finding a job and building connections with the right people (recruiters and/or senior managers)? does it improve your networking capabilities significantly? anyone have any personal experience? thanks!
No idea but there's usually free trials
I have gotten free trials on multiple occasions and it was awesome. Allowed me to find people to network with alot easier. Personally, I wouldn't pay for it, but the service is awesome. I didn't use InMail, I emailed instead, so that is one of the main reason I didn't get that much value out of it. I mainly used it for the enhanced search functions.
You get to use multiple free trials?
Yeah, I have gotten two via email, which was perfect for networking during the summer.
I second what Loki777 said. My strategy in Networking was using it to find people to reach out to and then I could just email that person.
Awesome. Thanks guys for the feedback. I am 26 years old and have been on the Street for 5 years now. Currently in a middle office role but looking to transition into an IB (DCM, ECM) or S&T front office position (still trying to decide on the two). So was thinking that if I crush CFA level 1 this coming June and eventually get my charter while networking hardcore via Linkedin, firm internal, outside events etc. that I could land a front office offer without having to lever up and head to b-school for a 2 year vacation starting 2015. Anyone think thats a bad idea? Your feedback is much appreciated. Thanks
What about becoming a capital markets analyst? From what I heard it has elements of both IB and S&T.
You mean like DCM & ECM?
I do pay for an upgraded LinkedIn feature as I am a graduating senior and could really use the extra features it offers. I'd suggest to look at the LinkedIn Premium and compare it to the features found in job seekers, it's what I do a month-to-month subscription in and find it much more useful than the job seeker upgrades.
CORRECTION: It's the 'business' plan under the 'Premium' umbrella tab.
How do you find their email addresses? Are they posted on their Linkedin profiles? I haven't had much success with finding people listing their emails on there...
Sometimes might be helpful to get their full name and once you know the firm's email structure, you can follow that and shoot them an email.
They are on Contact Info if you are connected. Not sure you can get their email without connecting (and I hope that is true).
I used it and landed my current job.
So you guys "cold connect" and then email them from there? Rather than "cold linkedin messaging (inmail)" them? Isn't it better to do two steps rather than one
You gotta pay for inmail (and only get 5 at a time with a package or 10 for premium or something). Also, typically people don't check their Linkedin that often, so direct emails work a little better (typically).
