Threads pop up on this for each bank around this time each year so you can find some good data by searching old posts.

If you aren’t familiar with the groups at a specific bank, maybe a good idea to hop on the phone with a current analyst. Do some of your own research beforehand of course so you don’t look like you know nothing about their bank.

GS: FIG, Sponsors, CRG, Natural Resources Group, TMT, Industrials, HC, Cross Markets, Real Estate

JPM: consumer, pubfin, industrials, energy, regional IB, ECM/DCM, FIG, sponsors, REGL, HC, IGF, tech, CFA, infra, levfin, M&C, M&A, CCT

now give me bananas

Most BBs have the same groups with a few different ones mixed in.

Most will have HC, TMT, FIG, Sponsors, M&A, LevFin, Industrials, Energy, REGAL, and C&R.

May also have a MM generalist group, maybe doesn’t have a sole M&A group, etc.
