Lying about GPA for a good reason...
WGU only certifies that by graduating my work meets a minimum of a 3.0 GPA... in spite of that I recently landed a great boutique IB job(Ignore title have yet to update). However I am almost certain that when I try to lateral in a year to a MM BB EB regardless of networking my resume will instantly be thrown out... thought of just leaving it off but most firms require it... there is a small technicality in that WGU certifies that my work was AT LEAST the quality of a 3.0 so it also isn't a total lie for me to say its higher than a 3.0. I've been told to put a 4.0 and then once I get the offer explain my circumstances. What does everyone think is this the right thing? I am almost 100% not getting an interview with that 3.0 GPA and being from WGU. With a 4.0 I at least stand a chance and I think I deserve a chance. Before anyone says it yes I know WGU was not the right school to attend for IB. When I signed it up I saw it as an easy path into FP&A and a nice life. It was I was able to get a full time job before graduating and got 0 student debt. On the job I learned of IB and realized I screwed up. I am not trying to get an unfair edge here like students changing there GPA for no reason. I am simply want a fair chance to have an interview. Is that wrong?
Do you not know exactly what your GPA is? if you do, put that. If you don't, I'd put GPA as something like: WGU GPA Bracket: 3.00-4.00/4.00. Then you can explain it if it comes up. Best option though is try to find out/calculate your uncertified GPA and put it.
They operate on a pass fail system. They verify graduates maintained at least a 3.0 GPA. So it's not 100% lying to put 4.0 espically since I aced all classes. The way I see it easier to put 4.0 and explain after rather than put 3.0 and never get an interview.
Then I would put it as a 4.0, but I'd also bring it up even if they don't ask about it to show that you're trying to be transparent, and briefly explain the situation
I would ask other alumni how they did it. If they had to do what you are proposing they may be able to give you guidance on how to frame the situation as well
Thats where I got this idea from they said put down a 3.9 and 4.0 and have a history of excellence to back it up.
If you aced all classes then yeah a 4.0 seems fine. Super weird though
Honestly WGU business and tech schools are great especially if you are looking for quality of education at a great price (tech school is/was ran by a stanford PhD and B school is ran by current HBS professors) but it is not built for IB or MC recruiting. But for corp fin/audit it's great.
just do it bro lol i lied on mine too
