MBB Intern? MBB FT? or BB SA?
So im currently a student majoring in International Business. gonna be a senior soon, will graduate next year December.
haven't had a lot of working experiences, I really want to get an internship(either summer/FT) at MBB, but it does sound much harder than getting a summer intern at BB.
So is it easier for me to apply for FT at MBB even without much working experience, or an SA at BB? and since I have native fluency in English, Chinese, and pretty fluent in Japanese, also know some French, do i have more advantages to apply for overseas internships/FT for both MBB and BB?
i know it sounds quite confusing, im pretty confused too, need help! I would love to get a summer intern somewhere first, for next summer, and then get a full time job after i graduate. what's the best thing i can do? if you have any experiences, i will really appreciate if you can share it.
ps. If getting offer from MBB is too difficult, will getting an summer internship from Deloitte help me applying for jobs after i graduate?
You almost certainly have no shot at either BB IBD or MBB. With the lack of data points provided, it's obviously difficult to provide a realistic evaluation, but if you've got no work experience, you're going to need pretty killer academic credentials to make up for that, which your weak grammar suggests is unlikely.
Thank you for your comment! i really appreciate it. I have a 3.8 GPA from U of Michigan, GMAT of 750+. I will try to improve my English as well, sorry about any grammar mistakes in my previous post. Im hoping that being able to speak four languages will give me a better chance of getting an overseas job, like in Hong Kong, Singapore, or Tokyo.
Amazing. Drexel is a complete dick to you and you come back with that polite response? I don't think you have what it takes for IB judging from the reaction to his post.
I think your biggest problem is going to be timing. If I understand your background correctly, you're a rising senior right? So when you say you want to do a SA gig you are talking about the summer after you graduate from college? Unfortunately, the types of summer internships that lead to full time offers take place during the summer between your junior and senior years. Which means you may have missed the boat on that one. When you go through recruiting this fall it would be more natural for you to apply for a full time position. I'm not sure many firms, and certainly not MBB and BBs are going to be looking for summer analysts that will have already graduated in May/June 2011.
That said, don't give up. Your language credentials are certainly impressive (especially knowing both near-fluent Chinese and Japanese). I would network like crazy and look for an in through Asia. Knowing Cantonese on top of Mandarin and having a Chinese passport will make it easier for you to land a FT gig in Hong Kong or the Mainland. If you have some connections over there you should try to schedule a trip or some skype phone calls and start talking to people in banking/consulting. Keep your target broad...don't just look at MBB and BBs but also the smaller players.
And most importantly: don't miss any deadlines!!!!
