MFin vs. MAcc vs. Master in Management for Investment Banking
Which degree will give you more options in Investment banking and other financial roles ? i.e. Hedge Funds & Sales & Trading
MAcc is only good for public accounting unless you majored in finance for undergrad, have good network and internships, or are rock star of your class (i'm talking about for IB)
None of these degrees are going to give you shit other than a piece of paper
You've got to produce the results, and hustle before you even start the program. You're going to get smoked if you just start the degree with no framework or plan.
I'm assuming you're talking about FO positions.
It depends on the program. My guess that MFin will place better for IB but programs like LBS MiM place reasonably well in IB in London for example.
This is a rather vague question. The MAcc would provide a variety of positions, but this is assuming you have the required accounting UG to get into a program. Some don't require this, but many do. It also depends on the program and GPA in the program.
Look at it like this. MSF vs MMS
MMS is good if you don't have a business background or if you are looking for a non finance specific role. Maybe you want consulting, maybe F500, maybe entrepreneurship. Who knows. You don't want to narrow yourself down. A MSF is for finance people who like finance (generally). You will go into a finance role and be with finance people. It is a specialized graduate degree.
The MAcc really is for accountants looking to get their 150 credit hours. You can use it to do something else, but if you want to go outside the box then just go to an Ivy and get a random masters. I'd suggest a MAcc if you want to do accounting. Otherwise look at the MSF or MMS.
BTW, neither will do anything unless you perform in the program, network and execute in your interviews.
I have strong interest in the MMan but i am taking many of the courses undergraduate since i will be getting a business minor. I'm not sure about MAcc or MFin i looked up various school's and saw some MAcc's placed into IB firms but many did accounting. If i'm deadest on financial roles would the Master's in Management give me as many options as the Master's in Finance considering i did well in my courses and utilized my extensive network ?
I also wanted know is there a list of highly regarded Master in Management programs & other master's programs somewhere. I found that Princeton Mfin's is very highly regarded but can't find similar highly regarded programs for Master in Management.
