Mid summer review feedback for IB internship

Yesterday my staffer gave me a mid summer review and said I’m doing a lot of things well like working hard and having a good attitude and improving, but he said that I need to improve my work product by the end of the summer.

Can anyone elaborate on whether this means I still have a shot on getting a return offer if I improve, or if my chances are pretty much doomed?

As a summer intern myself I think you're fine. Just keep pushing and imo the last thing you want to do is panic or overthink. In my experience so far I've honestly tried to apply the "more you think about it the more you'll fuck up" attitude. This might sound dumb but from my perspective just do that and you will perform. He said you're doing well, he has seen improvement, he has seen commitment. Those things should act as reinforcement. Just try to make your executions of tasks as clean and professional as possible and the last thing you should think of is whether you're on thin ice. Paradoxically, the more you think about that, the more it will start to crack if you know what I mean.
