Networking Etiquette/Advice

Hey - currently have a decent gig at a large AM firm but am hoping to recruit again full time for investment banks. I didn’t target IB for summer analyst roles so I don’t have a network built out. I’ve been told different things from friends (some say now is a great time to network, others have said best to wait until after your internship is over/secure a fulltime offer). Wondering what the consensus on here is for someone in this situation? Is there any risk to networking while still at my internship? If I get a full time offer, is it easier to leverage that for other interviews in IB?
