Networking - Should I avoid my partner's ex?
I'm trying to network with alums and one of them just happens to be my boyfriend's ex. She works at a firm that I'm very interested in. I feel very awkward about approaching her and am wondering if I should contact her. There are several alums at said firm too and there's no way she would know that I'm dating her ex. How should I approach connecting with her?
Is this a love triangle of some sort, keep it professional.
Just network with other alums at the firm. You don't want to draw too much attention to yourself in her eyes, as if she does find out you're dating her ex, things could be bad.
Network with other alumni.
If they don't respond, then you should contact her.
Don't tell her that you're dating this dude (obviously), but play stupid if she finds out. Maybe she'd still respect you for trying to network.
