Networking Through Different Time Zones & Limited Phone Time

Hi all, 

I've asked this question before, but I should have been a little more specific. 

Background: I finished my second year of uni at a non-target/semi-target and am about to head off to do mandatory military service abroad. I'm going to be locked up for about a year and a half and would really benefit from networking (esp. since I don't go to a target). Another person said to focus on technicals, but I want to network as well. The only problem is that there's going to be a 13 hour time difference, and I'll only have my phone for limited hours in the day, excluding weekends. How would you deal with this? Do I just converse purely on LinkedIn? Thanks.
