Networking timing mistake: How to do this in the least bad way?
I am a junior at a top LAC and applied for a summer internship that is pretty much impossible to get without networking. It's in advertising, and there are few spots and way too many applicants. I think I am well-qualified for the role, though. But I fucked up and did not network with relevant alums before I applied. I was focused on building relationships that would help for a different sumer opp which I did land.
I have some alumni -- any my school's alumni network is tight -- who work at the company. I just applied yesterday. Can I do an informational interview NOW and try to drop in that I just applied? I don't know how to do this in a tactful way because my timing was terrible. Or should I just drop it?
Hi hypthenated, the silence is deafening, sorry about that.... Any of the threads below helpful?

You're welcome.
You can always do an informational interview. Ask the alum about their experiences and then casually mention at the end of the conversation that you’ve applied. Alternatively reach out and be upfront about it, say that you’ve applied for this internship and that you wanted to learn more about culture, the firm and the like.
If you already landed one opportunity, why do you want this one more?
