Networking, too late?
I'm a sophomore at a top target who started thinking about investment banking as a legit option a few weeks ago (late, I know). I've not networked with a single person yet, and I know applications are opening now. How would you guys approach networking at this stage? For banks whose applications have already opened, should I submit and then try to chat with analysts in the groups I'm focusing on? Or is it just pointless at this stage?
its not even February yet. Get started now and schedule send all of them to go out by Monday or Tuesday latest. 10:54am EST or whatever time before 11:00/11:30.
How do you know if it’s too late if you don’t try?
Will do. Should I submit applications first and then mention this while networking, or should I network as much as I can in the next 2-3 weeks and then submit? Don't want my applications to get lost in the crowd.
It depends on the firm. If the app has been open for 4 weeks or so, you can shoot an email early next week and if you don't hear back you can just submit. For others I would implore you to really network first. Apps get passed around to see if anyone has talked to a candidate and if you haven't its a bad look.
