Obtaining a Job With Language on U5

Hello, I am currently looking to get back into the financial services industry. To make a long story short, I want to cut to the chase.

I was terminated from my previous job at Wells Fargo, the official language on my U5 states that I was terminated for NON-INVESTMENT RELATED ACTIVITY, in specific, I received invalid sales credit. I was a banker at a retail branch, my manager used my computer to help a customer open an account. Since she used the computer I received sales credit. Since it was not me who opened the account, compliance deemed the sale invalid--I was then fired. After I was fired the language was put on my U5.

I am currently in the interview process, and the potential employer has asked for a letter of explanation to further clarify the events that led to my termination.

My questions is simple--has anyone been through something similar with a bad U5? If so, were you able to find a job?

Any insight would be great, thanks!
