Off Cycle Internships

I am a third year student at a semi-target university with an internship at a treasury and work experience at big banks (in RE and investments).

As I missed out on the summer internships I was hoping that I could take a year out next year and apply for an off cycle internship.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Are you able to do this as a third year?

Appreciate any thoughts…
