US or EU/Asia? Rothschild is pretty big in the EU and Asia but pretty low-profile in the US.

There have been many great comebacks throughout history. Jesus was dead but then came back as an all-powerful God-Zombie.

CS has a stronger brand, bur Rothschild is also well respected, and has a pleasant culture (from what i've heard). Up to me, I'd base it on the people you met.

Rothschild is well-regarded in EU. The number of deals they go through each year is tremendous (a lot of government deals as well). The prestige is definitely there - one of the oldest, and still privately-held.

However you have to consider this - Rothschild is solely an advisory firm (no ECM, DCM, etc...). CS is a full-fledged ibank with considerate presence in both EU and US - has definitely more resources and room to 'move around' in terms of long-term career development.

On the other hand, it's only an internship - not too many dudes have a chance to experience Rothschild. And if you don't like it, I'm sure you won't have a problem getting FT from a BB next recruitment season..

Rothschild is a very prestigious name and has excellent presence in the EU. CS is average everywhere, and slipping in the league tables nonetheless. for an internship, name matters because it will influence your full-time opportunies. go with Rothschild hands down.
