Offer issues

I'm currently a junior and I have an internship offer at a small no-name algorithmic prop shop. I also have a superday for a BB (GS/MS/JPM/BAML) for a middle-office position in market risk. The problem is that this superday is on the same day I have my flight out of the US to go back home for winter break (I'm an international student). I called HR to try and reschedule the superday but the HR woman said that they don't have any other superday dates next semester (I call bullshit but what can I do).

My dream would be to work in S&T for a BB and I have a few S&T interviews lined up at HK/London offices for BBs and am scheduled to hear back for OCR NYC interviews in Jan. My biggest concern is that, incase I don't get a S&T internship, I want to best position myself to re-recruit next year.

Is it worth the hassle and cost of postponing my flight ticket home by about 8 days (and a cost of around 250 USD) to attend this BB superday? Would the no-name algo prop shop or market risk at the BB better position myself for S&T FT recruiting in senior year?

Take the $250 hit. It's not that bad in the scheme of things, assuming you've got a place to stay/food for those 8 days. Take the extra days to meet up with alumni or other contacts you've networked with.

+1. You'll regret it later if you don't attend.
