Offers and Deadlines
Hey guys,
Thanks to everyone for your helpful comments on my summer internship search so far. I've a bit farther along than last time I posted, and I have a kinda complicated question I was hoping you guys could help me with.
I had an interview with a really great company (BO work mostly, but a paid, structured program with opportunities to transfer to other divisions in the future) and I thought that it went well, but I called today and they told me that it would take another two weeks or so before they make a decision.
So I'm kind of stuck. I've already passed on a marketing job for a capital markets technology firm, and I'm probably going to tell UBS PWM that I can't accept their offer. So that leaves an unpaid 7 to 7 ER gig at an MM IB, and two interviews this week with a bond insurer and a hedge fund headhunter, respectively.
What should I do? I really don't think that I can ask for companies to wait until May for me to get back to them, but I'm really interested in the opportunity. Should I just pass and settle for what I have now? I don't know if I'm comfortable with reneging on offers down the line, either.
Thanks a lot everyone. Sorry for the wall of text.
-- I'm a freshman at a target with a spring boutique PWM internship, if that matters.
the ER gig sounds really good for freshmen year. I would call HR again and tell them your situation. You are more attractive if you have other offers. And if not let the MM IB know if you can have like a little more time or something.
