Pathway to IR/Marketing role

I have an undergrad degree in Liberal Arts from a decent school but no actual finance training. I worked in an admin assistant role for a year in AM and grew interested in IR/marketing or something tangentially ops related. Otherwise my work experience is weak, I'm currently unemployed, and so I'm afraid would disqualify me from MBA programs if I were to apply in the next year.

I applied to an IR analyst position at a major HF but didn't pass the phone screening. I haven't seen many job openings either so am looking for alternative routes.

What is the best path to break in? If I were to get an MBA or do an MS, which school programs are best for this?
