PIMCO Tech Analyst Summer 2022 -> High Finance?

Hi all!

Just got an email a little while back saying that I got offered PIMCO's Tech Summer Analyst role for 2022, currently a sophomore. My background is mostly computer science, coding since I was in middle school, but I want to make the transition over to more tradition IB/PE/HF or maybe even consulting roles after realizing in freshman year CS is not for me, at least in the longer term. Even though the role is more code heavy than other finance-related roles, I was hoping to maybe us this as a stepping stone towards that finance career track. Any advice on either accepting the role or how I could use this role to make that switch? Do you think this role is any good for making that transition, or it is better to wait things out for maybe a more finance heavy role? The pay is pretty good for the summer but its definitely less of a deal.

Context: This is my first big internship offer for 2022 so far, lots of others (all the BBs, some local PEs, Tech companies, etc.) haven't responded/silence. I'm involved in a decent bit of finance orgs and whatnot on campus, but most of my work-related experience (past internships, club projects) have had a decent bit of coding involved. I'm also looking to get maybe a finance degree, currently working on it.
