Places with best chances to get into buy-side in the US

Dear all,

Me, the wife, and the kids live in Europe at the moment.
Wife got an opportunity to move laterally to the US with a big 4. I will look for a buy-side role once I get the work permit out of the way.

My wife can choose between Boston, NYC, Chicago, Charlotte, Dallas, Miami. There seems to be little to no discount in her comp between these places for the role she is at (senior manager).
I reckon for raising a family Charlotte would be best, but how about career opportunities for a buy-side role? NYC would have the most opportunities, but also the most competition. Can you please give advice on the following:
1.Best chance to get into buy-side (taking into account competition for a spot and total spots offered)
2.Best place to raise a family among the ones mentioned (taking into account COL, nature, safety, quality of schools, locals' attitude toward foreigners).

Thanks in advance!
