no....just say that the prior group wasn't a fit for your career goals, so you decided to take some time off, and are now looking for a better opportunity that more closely aligns with your career goals.

just google it...you're welcome

You need to sue. This is a no brainer and will get settled long before it hits the courtroom if what you’re saying is true.

*I’m not a lawyer

Didn't the severance involve a waiver of claims? Pretty sure that was not only included in the severance agreement, but actually the main reason why you were offered severance to begin with.

Advice to all: you are never paid severance out of kindness. It's done to eliminate legal liability.

Well, I am a lawyer and you need to chalk this up to experience. If you sue, you will likely be informally cast out of the industry for doing so, and not land another job in it. Word gets around. Try to find someone, other than your ex boss who has at least modestly nice things to say about you

Sigh. You are not going to get a big settlement, you only worked there 2 years, your reasons for your FMLA leave will be thoroughly dissected, and your boss and his colleagues will testify as to your emotional instability and incompetence for the public record. Juries ate not sympathetic to investment bankers.

Define big settlement. The only one of these I’ve ever seen got settled for $200k.
