Putting self written investment systems on resume

Hello,

I'm a CFA level 2 candidate, coming from a non finance background and am currently looking for internships.

In my spare time I've written an ETF sector rotational system as well as a system based on changing correlations between stocks, bonds and commodities. Both are in Excel and neither has been traded with real money, so it's just historical results.

I know this isn't terribly impressive, but seeing as there are so few opportunities to gain experience before getting an internship, I'm really looking for ways to show that I do this stuff because I'm interested in it and would be doing it regardless of what job I was doing.

So, would it merit inclusion as a one line item under the interests section of my resume? If so, would it be better if it was written in a different program?

Thanks

It could be cool to include, but I can't really think about how to do so without coming off as a douche. You can't write down "Invented investment system that analyzes correlations between stocks, etc that achieved a 10 year investment return of x% annually".

I think the smartest way would be to mention it in an interview, that way it doesn't need to be upsold on a resume. "While learning about X,Y,Z I was able to incorporate my excel modeling skills and statistical analysis into creating a mock-investment system that helped me understand the effect different levels of correlation may have on a portfolio."

That's my .02.
