Random Internship in NYC

I'm about to enter college in a different state but I'm in NYC for the summer in (I live here). I don't really have a job at the moment and I'm not in any of those programs that place graduating seniors into field-specific internship programs. What do you think my chances would be of securing a random internship at a small boutique or something of the sort around the city? I would probably do something along the lines of random grunt work and research or even run errands as needed. Really anything to dip my toes in the water early on. Any advice would be appreciated or even if someone reading this by a chance would like to put me on. Thank you.

Too early for an internship you need to demonstrate you have some ability to perform the job (GPA, Classes). Sophomore year is when you typically get things going. If you are really adamant you can set up a LinkedIn page and start networking. I would also suggest taking financial modeling courses as early as possible. They have a bunch here on WSO. Don’t know the current intern-market situation. Wish you luck!
