Real Estate Development to Sports Business

Fellow Monkeys, I've realized that while real estate development is an exciting industry, I don't see myself doing it for the next 30 years—it's more of a means to an end, like investment banking and private equity for many of us. Recently, I've been exploring opportunities to transition into a management role at a USL or MLS club. I won't mention which teams for confidentiality reasons, but I've been passionate about soccer for as long as I can remember, and it’s something I constantly think about, second only to my girlfriend and my job. With my finance background and problem-solving skills as a developer, I believe I can position myself as a strong candidate to help a club grow financially and operate more efficiently. While I'm not expecting to land a GM role immediately or rise to the top overnight, I genuinely believe I have a lot to offer, despite the inevitable learning curve. Am I being unrealistic in thinking I can achieve a high position within a major soccer club? I’m confident in my skillset and ambition, but I’m curious if anyone here has taken a similar path. I’d even be willing to take a 20% pay cut to pursue this.
