Real Estate Marketing Internship freshman summer?

I got an interview for a real estate marketing internship with re/max for the freshman summer. But i want to break into finance/ibd. is this internship worth considering if they offer a spot? Or should i be looking for more PWM, finance-related jobs? I go to a target undergrad b-school and next year i will be a sophomore.

Also a side question, I hear UBS and Merrill Lynch take a lot of summer interns for their PWM positions. If i cold-emailed their firms can i expect to get a paid position or are they generally unpaid? Would this position be better if unpaid vs the real estate marketing internship which is paid?
Thanks for your help

I am currently in a similar situation as you. I feel that a finance related job would definitely be better than marketing or PWM if you are looking to break into IBD. When I was searching for my finance job, I found out that most would require prior experience in finance / working in banks plus technical skills such as V look up or VBA in excel. Currently, I plan to get an admin job in a financial institution and work OT so that I can learn as much as possible. I feel that a finance related jobs will also give you an advantage over others when you are searching for an internship during your sophomore summer. Hope this will help you with your decision.
